Architecture in Residence:
A New Masterplan for the Embassy Garden
by ETH Zürich
During two consecutive workshops in Mai and June, architecture students of ETH ZÜRICH develop a new design for the garden of the Embassy of Switzerland in Copenhagen. To evolve the potential of this unique site and to emphasize the following activities of the ARCHITECTURE IN RESIDENCE-Program, the garden is understood as a meeting ground and representative stage at large. A comprehensive masterplan for the location as well as facilities for upcoming events are proposed.
Furthermore, results from a recent workshop in experimental furniture design in collaboration with VITRA will be presented.
Architecture in Residence:
by The Royal Danish Academy Schools of
Architecture and Design KADK
and Petersen Tegl
MATERIAL INCLUDES is a collaborative project between PETERSEN TEGL and the master course SPATIAL DESIGN, PERCEPTION AND DETAIL at the ROYAL DANISH CADEMY SCHOOL OF ARCHITECUTRE, DESIGN AND CONSERVATION KADK. A floor and fireplace is constructed in the embassy garden as a place for gathering. Students have made bricks at PETERSEN TEGL’s brickworks, experimented with glazing techniques and effects at KADK and constructed in the gardens of the Embassy of Switzerland. The design concerns how formal, tactile and visual qualities of bricks may guide and motivate pleasure of people with reduced abilities. How might edges, warmth, colour contrasts, patterns and textures enrich space to be more inclusive?
